Why Amazon Might Limit The Mythical Kindle Smartphone To America
As I continue to ponder the merits of an Android handset made by Amazon, I'm drawn to the isolated nature of the Kindle Fire and what this could mean for Jeff Bezos' entry into the smartphone market.

For all the noise and bluster of the Kindle Fire it has remained, grey imports aside, an American product. This limited release in terms of geography has allowed Amazon to stay focused on the product and user experience of their Android tablet. When an Amazon smartphone does arrive, I'm pretty sure that it will stay exclusive to the 50 states during the initial launch period, and for a few more quarters after that.

Amazon has form here. The Kindle Fire was released in the US on November 15th 2011, and is still awaiting an official release date for the United Kingdom. whilst the Kindle Touch, also available in the US on the 15th, took six months to to reach Europe.
