France broke with Gallic protocol to pose on the steps of the
Elysée Palace with Labour leader
Ed Miliband, an honour normally reserved for heads of state.
The special treatment came after Mr Miliband beat
David Cameron to become the first senior British politician to hold talks with Mr Hollande on home turf since his election in May.
Mr Cameron snubbed Mr Hollande when he made an election campaign visit to
London in February by refusing to meet him and then vocally backing his centre-Right rival
